Terms of use, confidentiality and data processing

Status of this document

This is a draft. It has not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel and must not be relied on as a finished terms-of-use, confidentiality or data-processing agreement. It exists so that early, synthetic-data testing has real, versioned text to consent to instead of a placeholder.

Governing law, the contracting legal entity, liability terms and dispute resolution are deliberately left out of this draft rather than guessed at. They will be added once counsel has reviewed this document.

Scope: preliminary guidance, not legal advice

The opinions and screening results this platform produces are preliminary guidance only. They are not legal advice and must not be treated as a substitute for it.

Any decision with real legal consequence, including filing a patent application, relying on a novelty or freedom-to-operate position, or responding to a third party's rights, should be taken through a qualified, registered patent attorney or agent.

Ownership of your content

You retain ownership of everything you upload or submit. Using the platform to prepare an opinion does not transfer, licence away, or otherwise reduce your ownership of your own content.

Confidentiality

Content you submit stays private to you and the authorised users on your account. It is not shared with, or made visible to, other customers.

Reviewers who work on your submission see it for the purpose of preparing and signing your opinion, under the same confidentiality expectation.

AI processing and human review

Parts of the process (understanding your submission, searching prior art, drafting comparison notes) are prepared with AI assistance. Nothing produced this way reaches you unreviewed: a qualified human reviewer checks and signs every opinion before it is delivered.

No training on your confidential content

Your confidential content is never used to train general-purpose AI models without your explicit, informed permission. This applies regardless of which AI provider or driver processes your submission.

Consent versioning

This document carries the version id shown at the top of this page (currently 2026-07-18-draft-1). When you submit an invention, the consent checkboxes you tick are recorded against that exact version.

If this text changes in a way that matters, the version id is bumped and you will be asked to re-consent the next time you make a submission. Consents you have already given stay recorded against the version you actually agreed to; they are never silently rewritten to a later version.
